About me

I offer personal and relationship counselling to individuals, couples and young people. I also work as a relationship and youth counsellor for Relate, and as an academic supervisor at the University of the West of England.

After studying psychology at university, I was a teacher for several years then trained and worked as a family therapist and couple counsellor in Spain.  On my return to the UK, I worked for Social Services with young people and their families. I went on to update my counselling training with Relate.  Having lived and worked in Spain for a decade, I am able to offer counselling in Spanish and have worked with Spanish speaking clients in this country.

My approach is about both making sense of the impact of past experiences on current problems, and focusing on how to make positive changes in the here and now.  I draw on a range of techniques according to the needs of my clients.

Counselling is confidential.  I will protect your privacy completely, and all records will be kept securely.  In rare circumstances I may be legally obliged to share information with a third party, for example if I was concerned that someone, especially a child, was at risk of serious harm.

My work is professionally supervised to ensure that I maintain the best standards of practice.  As an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) I uphold their code of ethics.    Further information is available at: http://www.nationalcounsellingsociety.org/about/code-of-ethics/
