About me

I offer personal and relationship counselling to individuals, couples and young people.  My approach is about both making sense of the impact of past experiences on current problems, and focusing on how to make positive changes in the here and now.  I draw on a range of techniques according to the needs of my clients.

After studying psychology at York University, I moved to Spain where I trained and worked as a family therapist and couple counsellor in the late 1980s.  On my return to the UK, I worked for Social Services with young people and their families for many years, in London and then in Bristol.

In 2008 I updated my relationship counselling training with Relate and worked for them as a registered practitioner until 2019.  During that period, I did some further training with Relate in youth counselling and worked in a secondary school for 2 years.  From 2009 to 2018 I also worked as an academic supervisor at the University of the West of England.

Having lived and worked in Spain for a decade, I am able to offer counselling in Spanish and have worked with Spanish speaking clients in this country.

My work is professionally supervised to ensure that I maintain the best standards of practice.   I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and adhere to their code of ethics.  My membership no. is NCS13-00076.   Further information is available at: http://www.nationalcounsellingsociety.org/about/code-of-ethics/
